Ah, yes. As we know it is full of free time, lazying around, movies, eating (lots of eating) and hopefully time with your loved ones too.
It’s the time where we don’t have to think too hard about things, stick to a schedule, or work under deadlines. And that’s the beauty of it.
But have you ever thought what would happen if you changed the way you saw ‘the weekend’?
There are lots of ways two spend your Saturday and Sunday, and most if not all of it is at your discretion.
But if you’re looking for ways to get the most out of your weekend instead of mindlessly getting through it every time Friday rolls around, read on to find out the five M’s of taking your weekend from bland to productive and satisfying in the best way possible.
Meal prepping only sounds scary and intimidating.
It goes pretty quick and smoothly once you try it out a few times and get into your own meal prepping groove. Preparing meals ahead of time for the rest of the week does two very important things for you:
- It makes sure your getting as much daily nutrition as possible
- It saves you time to do other things without skipping meals
This is why meal prepping is a must for lots of people. Especially if you’re short on time. And that’s all of us these days. As we juggle jobs, and kids and relationships, and school, etc.
Here’s a great guide to meal prepping if you have no clue where to start!
Once you get in the habit of meal prepping, either for lunch, breakfast, dinner, or all of the above, your body and your wallet will be so much better off because of it.
Moisturize. moisturize, moisturize.
And this can come in more ways than one. It can mean leaving your hair up with some castor or coconut oil and letting it sit while you tidy up your place, or it can mean trying out that natural face mask you’ve put on the back burner for days.
Really, moisturize is just another word for taking care of yourself and giving yourself some ‘you time’ or as they like to call it ‘self-care.’
Another great way to moisturize is to make yourself your favorite coconut oil sugar scrub and exfoliate your skin.
it’s a great way to keep your skin hydrated and taken care of. And we all know that when we look good, we feel better about ourselves. And when we feel better about ourselves we’re so much more ready to tackle the next week ahead of us.
Meditating is a way to not only calm your mind and everything that’s going on in it, but it also helps you stay energized and organize your day better.
Now, you might be at a place where maybe you’ve tried meditating and it just isn’t working for you, or maybe it’s not something you’re ready to try yet.
There are other ways to get into a sort of meditative state that you can try as well. These things can be things like coloring in your favorite coloring pages, making sure you take five quiet minutes in the morning while you drink your favorite tea or coffee or thinking of all the things you’re thankful for while you brush your teeth.
There are lots of ways to stop and reflect on things or just snag a quiet moment of as much mental calmness as you can muster.
You work hard during the week! You deserve some time to make sure you’re getting not only the physical but the mental rest that you deserve. Try making it a habit and see your weekend change for the better.
Minimizing is simply another word for de-cluttering and throwing out anything that isn’t serving you.
It’s always great to get rid of burdensome items or piles of things that you don’t need. Spend some time de-cluttering over the weekend.
And it doesn’t even have to be every weekend. It can be every other weekend.
It’s interesting to see how you feel after you’re thrown away things that you don’t need.
For example, one great way to part with clothes that you never wear is to hang all your hangers backwards from how you usually hang them. If you hang them with the hook facing frontwards hang them all backwards.
After a couple of months, whatever is still left hanging backwards can promptly go to the trash. It’s a super easy way to select the clothes you really aren’t wearing and probably never will.
It helps make parting with your belongings easier.
And finally monetizing. While it’s totally ok to spend a lazy Saturday lounging around and catching up on rest, there are lots of productive things you can do with your free time if you get bored, that can earn you extra cash here and there.
And the great part is that there are TONS of ways to make money on the side during your weekends, including blogging, answering surveys, donating plasma, teaching English online, or even freelance writing.
Earning extra money whenever you have free time aside from your usual job is a great way to create peace of mind. You can build your emergency fund, or start saving for that expensive item that you really want.
Make the best of it
If you haven’t noticed by now, the point here is to make the VERY best of the two free days you get every week. Even starting one simple habit that will help you grow into the person you want to be can be helpful in a major and life changing way over time.
If you keep it up for one year, at the very least, you’ll start notice a difference in your quality of life.
Once you get more selective with your life, its pretty amazing what you can build.
